Follow Writer Aditya’s as he provides exclusive coverage on the pre-launch of Capitaland's new Roblox world, CapitaVerse.
CapitaLand hosted an exclusive pre-launch event for their game, CapitaVerse, on 8 April 2024 and were kind enough to send me an invitation. Of course, I had to say yes.
It was a large event attended by numerous VIPs including myself and the one and only actor-singer Glenn Yong. We were given access to CapitaVerse before anyone else in the world which, in my opinion, was amazing!
So, without further ado, allow me to take you on a journey into the world of CapitaVerse!
So, what exactly is CapitaVerse?
CapitaLand has partnered up with Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to create their very own award winning metaverse in Roblox otherwise known as CapitaVerse. It has been made available to the public starting from 8 April 2024 all the way to 31 October 2024. The game includes numerous challenges for players in the form of branded quests and mini games.
By participating in these fun little challenges, you can stand a chance to win many exclusive prizes like virtual wearables to personalise your custom Avatar, $1,000 worth of eCapitaVouchers, discount coupons and special deals for popular brands such as Adidas, Muji, and Sony!
A sneak peak into CapitaVerse
CapitaVerse is captivating. Its vibrant and whimsical aesthetic creates an uplifted atmosphere making the game suitable for players of all ages and from all walks of life.
CapitaLand’s iconic Funan mall (which happens to be the world’s first and only virtual creation of a real-life mall in the metaverse), and the National Gallery of Singapore are some of the featured landmarks that you can visit together with various shophouses of brand partners like Barehands, Ginlee, and Puma.
Each experiential location comes with its own time-based quests through which we as the players can learn about the brands’ story and discover their featured products. There are mini games too like “TURF WAR: FASHIONISTAS VS FOODIES” where you and your friends are split into two teams – Fashionistas (Pink) and Foodies (Blue) – and compete amongst each other to cover most of the dance floor in your respective team’s colour.
My fellow Robloxians, are you excited yet?
The one and only - Glenn Yong!
Perhaps the best highlight of the CapitaVerse preview event was Glenn Yong. His presence added an extra layer of excitement as he engaged with the audience many times. Did I mention that he played “TURF WAR” with us? Actually, he played it twice: once with VIPs (essentially everyone who was there for media coverage … including me) and the second time with his “Hang Bao Baos” (the Swifties equivalent for Glenn Yong) who were going wild over him.
One of my most memorable highlights was getting a chance to meet Glenn personally. We shook hands, exchanged a few words, and even took a picture together – a moment that I will always cherish. His warmth and friendliness made the encounter unforgettable and I left the event with a newfound appreciation not only for his talent but also for his lovely gesture towards his audience.
CapitaVerse is not to miss
It was my first time attending an exclusive event where I was given the opportunity to access something before anyone else in the world. Combine that with complimentary churros, milk tea, and a legendary celebrity and we get a mesmerising experience which undoubtedly left a lasting impression on me.
CapitaVerse is a light-hearted, simple, and vibrant game. It’s unlikely to give you an adrenaline rush that fast-paced games such as Fortnite or Valorant do. So, if you’re looking for something that’s not overly competitive or you just happen to be a Robloxian trying to win yourself some fancy IRL prizes then CapitaVerse might just be the place for you.
